  • About me: Hello everyone. My name is Monique Rodriquez. I am a first year college student. I am also the first in my family to attend college. My family and loved ones are the most important to me. I feel I am a quiet person, but if you get to know me I am okay to be around. Death metal is my kind of music. One thing I enjoy doing is going to shows. One chick I am in awe of is Angella Gossow. She has some sick and brutal vocals.

  • My Essays:

One thing I am more confident with is writing five paragraph essays. I now know the introduction includes a motivator, thesis, and a blueprint. The body is made up from the blueprint. The conclusion should consist of a reworded thesis, summary of the blueprint, and a clincher. Once I have written the introduction, the rest of the essay is easy for me. The blueprint from the introduction lays out my body for the essay. The conclusion is a very easy part to do.

Another thing I am more certain about is the four types of sentences. The four types of sentences are; simple, compound, complex, and compound complex. I now know a simple sentence is a sentence that can stand alone. It is an independent sentence. A compound sentence is a sentence that consists of two independent clauses. In a complex sentence there is a dependent clause and an independent clause. I have also learned there are two independent clauses and one dependent clause. I can recognize these sentences better now than I could when I first started English-071.

One thing I am not confident in is identifying words. I still need help with adverbs, pronouns, adjectives, etc. I know the names of the words, but I can not give any examples of the words. I do know the definition of a noun. A noun is a person, place, or thing. I am not absolute, but I’ll guess that a verb is an action word. If I was to guess I would say an adjective is a word describing a noun. I am not definite; therefore, I am not confident with the different kinds of words. I still need practice with the various kinds of words to get a hold of them.

Through my journey in English-071 I have picked up some things, but I have also bypassed others. During my time in this course I have learned the format of a five paragraph essay. I have also learned about the four types of sentences, but I am not very good with identifying words. Through my journey in English-071 I have learned, and I have bypassed some of the stuff that was taught to us. Today I have a lot yet to learn.
